Burnout

Burnout is a syndrome due to “chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed” (WHO).

It can lead to serious medical conditions, both mental and physical.

In the past two decades, numbers have been rocketing and the initiatives in place don’t seem to slow down the viral progression of the syndrome. Burnout is becoming the new pandemic.

It’s time to re-think and offer original solutions to prevent burnout.

Initiatives in place to address burnout traditionally target individuals:
– those who are already burnt out to help them remain in their role or
– the others in order to teach them how to resist to stress.

Dr Cotel offers a radically different approach! She helps organisations implement processes that
keep staff members away from burnout
while unlocking their performance and productivity and, more importantly,
while nurturing their sense of fulfilment through their role.

She focuses on three aspects:
* processes that create the staff’s work experience
* effective cross-boundary collaboration that helps diverse teams achieve complex projects
* executive communication that supports the fundamentals of the organisation’s culture and strategy

Burnout is not just question of well-being. It is a roadblock that executives can’t ignore when leading their organisations.

“I chose to see my burnout as the best opportunity to improve
my life.”

Organisations can accompany talents in severe burnout while they recover and prepare with them an improved work experience post-full recovery. This is a powerful way to build staff retention and make a difference!

WHO

On May 28 2019, Burnout was recognised by the World Health Organisation, WHO, as an occupational phenomenon.
The syndrome is characterised by exhaustion, cynicism and reduced professional efficiency.

fLorence is the neuroscientist that did the experiments which unravelled the first cellular mechanism of central fatigue. She is now preparing a research project to uncover the changes in the brain that result from the burnout syndrome.
